Nick Godbehere, a junior at Shafter High, won the boys shot put with a mark of 59 feet (17.98m) at the CIF Central Section South Area Championships at Bakersfield Liberty High. Godbehere, the California state leader at 61-9.25 (18.82m) advanced to the Central Section Championships on June 19 at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High in Clovis.
