Mia Torrecillas, a freshman at Bakersfield Highland High, won the girls 1,600 meters in 5:09.05 and finished second in the 3,200 meters in 11:16.34 at the CIF Central Section South Area Championships at Bakersfield Liberty High. Torrecillas advanced in both events to the Central Section Championships on June 19 at Veterans Memorial Stadium at Buchanan High in Clovis.
